Static
To Those Who Toil
it came across the wire
coiled and confused
the energy that became
what it has always been

the questions remained the same
the counter pointed out the deficiencies
numbering its days

a man is made to fish
and fish he does
for food is something of material value

what do we eat
it came across the wire
languishing there like a fish
seasoned in numbers and values

the wire carries the energy
but we sit and wait for the call
